What can make a difference

There are no known microorganisms resistant to Ultra Violet, unlike chlorine water treatment. UV is known to be highly effective against bacteria, viruses, algae. In practice, bacteria and viruses are the cause of many pathogenic diseases carried by water. Of these viruses, hepatitis virus and legionellosis have demonstrated the ability to survive for considerable periods of time in chlorine treatment, but are easily eliminated by UV treatment. For most microorganisms, the effectiveness of UV against microbiological contaminants such as bacteria and viruses generally exceeds 99.99%.
